Week 2 of Mission CGPSC 2027 · Rights & Roots — Fundamental Rights and DPSP for India; prehistory and the early dynasties of Dakshin Kosala for Chhattisgarh. See the full plan.
Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties
The Fundamental Duties were added to the Constitution on the recommendation of which committee, and in which year?
The Swaran Singh Committee (1976) recommended eight duties, and the 42nd Amendment Act, 1976 added ten in Part IVA (Article 51A). The Verma Committee (1999) later examined how to operationalise the duties. The Sarkaria Commission dealt with Centre-State relations, and the Venkatachaliah Commission reviewed the working of the Constitution.
Ancient Chhattisgarh: Prehistory to the Guptas
The Brahmi inscription in the Jogimara cave of the Ramgarh hills (Surguja) names which two persons?
The Jogimara inscription (c. 3rd–1st century BCE, Magadhi Prakrit) names Sutanuka, a devadasi, and Devadinna, a rupadaksha (painter or sculptor). Its exact meaning is disputed. Bodhadatta and Indradeva are the ministers of the Gunji inscription.
Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
Consider the following statements about syllogisms (assume every term is non-empty):
- From “All A are B” and “No B is C”, it follows that “No A is C”.
- From “Some A are B” and “Some B are C”, it follows that “Some A are C”.
- From “No A is B” and “All B are C”, it follows that “Some C are not A”.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
A + E gives E: No A is C, so statement 1 is correct. Two particular statements (I + I) never give a conclusion, so statement 2 is wrong. E + A gives the reversed O conclusion: the C’s that are B’s cannot be A’s, so Some C are not A — statement 3 is correct.
