Daily Challenge — 22 October 2026
Week 3 of Mission CGPSC 2027 · Kings & Cabinets — The Union executive and Parliament, alongside the Kalachuris of Ratanpur and the Maratha years. See the full plan.
Parliament
Consider the following statements:
- A Money Bill can be introduced only in the Lok Sabha.
- The Rajya Sabha can withhold a Money Bill for a maximum of 14 days.
- If a question arises whether a Bill is a Money Bill, the decision of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha is final.
Which of the statements given above are correct?
All three are correct. Under Article 109 a Money Bill originates only in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha must return it within 14 days, after which it is deemed passed. Article 110(3) makes the Speaker’s decision on whether a Bill is a Money Bill final. Do not confuse this with ordinary Bills, where a deadlock can lead to a joint sitting.
Kalachuris of Ratanpur and Raipur
The Amoda copper plates, dated Kalachuri year 831, belong to which ruler, and what is their equivalent CE year?
The Amoda plates are a land grant of Prithvideva I, who is described as lord of the entire Kosala country. The Kalachuri era began in 248-249 CE, so year 831 corresponds to 1079 CE. The 1114 CE record is Jajalladeva I’s Ratanpur stone inscription.
Basic Numeracy
A train 180 m long is running at 54 km/h. How long will it take to pass a telegraph pole?
Speed = \( 54 \times \frac{5}{18} = 15 \) m/s. To pass a pole the train covers its own length: time = \( \frac{180}{15} = 12 \) s.
