Daily Challenge — 23 October 2026
Week 3 of Mission CGPSC 2027 · Kings & Cabinets — The Union executive and Parliament, alongside the Kalachuris of Ratanpur and the Maratha years. See the full plan.
Parliament
Which one of the following committees of Parliament consists of members drawn only from the Lok Sabha?
All 30 members of the Estimates Committee come from the Lok Sabha, fitting the fact that only the Lok Sabha votes on the estimates. The PAC and the Committee on Public Undertakings each have 22 members (15 Lok Sabha + 7 Rajya Sabha), and each of the 24 DRSCs has 31 members (21 + 10).
Kalachuris of Ratanpur and Raipur
Which Kalachuri ruler is credited with founding the city of Ratanpur (Ratnapura)?
Kalingaraja established the Kalachuri branch in Dakshina Kosala with his capital at Tummana; his grandson Ratnadeva I founded Ratnapura (Ratanpur), which became the new capital. The trap is to credit the branch’s founder, Kalingaraja, with founding the city as well.
Basic Numeracy
A can complete a piece of work in 12 days and B can complete it in 18 days. Working together, in how many days will they complete it?
One day’s combined work = \( \frac{1}{12} + \frac{1}{18} = \frac{3 + 2}{36} = \frac{5}{36} \). Time = \( \frac{36}{5} = 7.2 \) days. 15 days (the average of 12 and 18) is the trap — working together must take less time than the faster worker alone, so any answer of 12 days or more is impossible.
