Sports Events and Organisations
IOC and the Olympics, CWG, Asian Games, FIFA and ICC with 2024–26 results, India's sports awards and law, and Chhattisgarh's Khelo India Tribal Games 2026.
Prerequisites
- Regional Groupings: SAARC, BRICS and SCO — the same “who hosts, who joins” logic applies to sports bodies
- Education and Human Resource Development — sport as part of youth and human resource policy in GS-V
The Hook: Morveer in Jagdalpur
In March 2026, a mascot called Morveer greeted athletes in Raipur, Jagdalpur and Surguja. Chhattisgarh was hosting the first-ever Khelo India Tribal Games, with tribal youth from across India competing in archery, hockey, football and more. A few months later, Indian boxers topped the boxing table at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and India’s cricketers had already become the first team to win three men’s T20 World Cups.
Sports questions in CGPSC are pure recall: which body runs which event, where it is held, who won. Where do you start?
Why it matters: Prelims P-I regularly includes one or two sports questions (venues, trophies, awards, bodies). For Mains GS-V, sport is part of youth welfare and human resource development.
